Geely is revolutionizing electric mobility: an integrated 16-in-1 drive with record-breaking performance has been unveiled

The Chinese auto giant Geely Auto Group has taken a major step forward in the development of electric vehicle engineering by introducing an innovative integrated 16-in-1 electric powertrain. This unique unit combines sixteen key components, which were previously considered separate systems, into one compact module. The result is exceptional compactness, impressive efficiency, and a significant reduction in weight. The declared mass of the new system is just 75 kilograms, while overall efficiency reaches an outstanding 93.8%. These figures have already allowed Geely to set a world record for energy efficiency among production electric sedans, demonstrating the depth of its engineering expertise and the company’s commitment to innovation.

An innovative approach to integration: reducing losses and optimizing space

At the heart of the new development is an 800-volt architecture that enables fast charging and high power output. Geely engineers, in collaboration with InfiMotion, have combined power electronics, control systems, and mechanical components in a single housing. This approach, known as “16-in-1 integration,” offers several major advantages. First, it dramatically reduces energy losses that inevitably occur during power transfer from the motor to the wheels through numerous connections and cables. Every additional component and connection in a traditional system becomes a potential point of loss. By integrating everything into one block, Geely minimizes these losses, which directly affects the overall efficiency of the electric vehicle.

Second, such integration significantly reduces the total mass of the powertrain. Lighter components mean a lower vehicle weight, which in turn helps reduce energy consumption and improve dynamic performance. In addition, valuable space inside the vehicle is freed up and can be used for other systems important for comfort and safety, increased cabin capacity, or a larger trunk. This is an important factor in creating more practical and appealing electric vehicles for everyday use.

Record-breaking figures and future prospects

The high overall efficiency of the new system, which reaches 93.8% according to the Chinese CLTC test cycle, has been achieved through a comprehensive approach. Software developed for intelligent energy optimization also plays a major role. Algorithms analyze road conditions, driving style, and other factors to ensure maximum energy efficiency at any given moment. Advanced manufacturing technologies have also played a key role in achieving such results, making it possible to produce high-quality components with minimal tolerances.

The new powertrain will debut in the upcoming Geely TT electric sedan, demonstrating not only efficiency but also strong performance. The system supports all-wheel drive and delivers up to 570 horsepower (425 kW). This configuration allows the electric sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, placing it alongside many sports cars.

To maintain stable performance even under heavy loads, Geely has equipped the electric drive with an advanced cooling system. It consists of 54 separate channels, which reduces the maximum temperature of the electric motors by 15°C. In addition, active lubrication of the shafts and gearbox has been implemented, improving heat dissipation during aggressive driving, which is especially important for electric vehicles, where cooling systems play a critical role.

Next-level reliability: a lifespan of 5 million kilometers

One of the most impressive aspects of Geely’s new development is the declared service life. After thorough testing of individual components, the integrated electric drive as a whole, and full-scale vehicle tests, the company estimates the system’s lifespan at an incredible 5 million kilometers. This figure far exceeds traditional standards for automotive powertrains and demonstrates extraordinary reliability and durability in the new design. Such longevity places Geely electric vehicles among the leaders in durability, an important factor for owners seeking to minimize maintenance costs and maximize the service life of their vehicles.

Record achievements in real-world conditions

The outstanding characteristics of the new powertrain have also been confirmed by major achievements. During tests of the Geely TT electric sedan near China’s Qinghai Lake, the vehicle demonstrated an impressive average energy consumption of just 8.20 kWh per 100 km. Thanks to this achievement, the Geely TT entered the Guinness World Records as the production electric sedan with the lowest energy consumption on this specific route, known for its challenging conditions.

Another record was set during a dynamics and handling test. Two Geely TT electric sedans performed continuous synchronized drifting on a wet surface for 46 kilometers. In addition to being an impressive display of endurance, this test made it possible to verify the operation of torque control, cooling, and power delivery systems under real conditions. The ability of the vehicles to withstand such extreme loads without losing efficiency or developing issues demonstrates the high quality of their design and production.

Geely’s strategic vision: the future of electric powertrains

Geely Auto Group Vice President and President of the Geely Automobile Research Institute, Li Chuanhai, emphasized that as electric vehicles become more popular, electric drive technologies are becoming a key direction for industry development. His words highlight the company’s strategic vision: “Our new system strengthens Geely’s in-house capabilities in developing electric powertrains and intelligent vehicle control systems.” This statement indicates that Geely is not only striving to create innovative products, but also to develop its own technological capabilities, which will allow it to remain at the forefront of competition in the electric vehicle market. Investments in research and development in the powertrain sector will enable Geely to offer customers increasingly advanced, efficient, and reliable electric vehicles, shaping the future of mobility.
