Samsung Removes USB-C Cable from New Budget Smartphones

Samsung Removes USB-C Cables from the Box of Its Most Affordable Galaxy Smartphones

Samsung continues its policy of streamlining the retail packaging of its smartphones, this time dropping the USB-C cable even from ultra-budget models. From now on, buyers of the cheapest Galaxy A07s and Galaxy A08 smartphones will not find the familiar cable in the box, following the trend that began with the removal of chargers.

The new models, introduced in early September, come only with a SIM card ejection tool and a paper manual. This means that to charge and connect these devices, users will have to buy a USB-C cable and a charging adapter separately.

The Evolution of the Box Contents: From Full Kits to Minimalism

Samsung has experimented with box contents before. The company began reducing the bundled accessories with the flagship Galaxy S21 series by removing chargers. This practice gradually spread to other lineups, but the USB-C cable remained a standard accessory until now.

What sets the new budget Galaxy A07s and Galaxy A08 models apart is that they are the first in the Galaxy lineup to ship without either of the main accessories — neither a charger nor a USB-C cable. Previous models, such as the standard Galaxy A07, still came with a cable.

More About the New Budget Models

Samsung officially confirmed the packaging changes on its website, but the information was presented in small print, which may have caused some buyers to overlook it.

The Galaxy A07s, which is already on sale in some markets, is an updated version of the A07. The smartphone runs Android 16 and is powered by the Helio G99+ processor, which differs from the previous G99.

The Galaxy A08 is a new 4G model positioned as a 2026 device. It offers up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The smartphone is based on the MediaTek Helio G99+ processor with LPDDR5X memory. The device features a 6.7-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution, a powerful 6000 mAh battery with support for 25W wired charging, and IP64 dust and splash resistance.

At the moment, the company has not made any official comments on whether this practice will extend to more expensive smartphone segments.
